Artist’s Statement
My work is very much involved in process: the spiritual and physical nature of making. I began sculpting as a way to put my experiences of meditation into some tangible form in order to understand them.
In addition to the postminimal relief constructions I've been producing since 2009, I'm currently exploring a variety of new media, including cast paper and felted wool. Each medium has its own qualities and technical demands, and I'm finding throughout these explorations that my concerns remain the same: they are the importance of craft in concert with the development of ideas, and artmaking and viewing as a means to experience the silent dynamism of the meditative mind.
